Dear students,

When penning your personal journals on group identity, some of you have used the term “clique” and the rest of you have used the terms “click” when referring to your group of friends.

As defined by thefreedictionary.com, the definitions for the two terms are as follows:

Clique: A small exclusive group of friends or associates.

Click: a short light metallic sound (among other definitions)

From the above definitions, it can be observed that “clique” should be the right term to use when referring to the group of friends that you associate with.

Do take note of this.

Dear class,

There seems to be a common error that most of you have made during lessons. This is your understanding of the terms “extend” and “extent”. This error occurs often both in your journals and on your presentation slides.

The definition of “extend” is defined as:

-To enlarge the area, scope, or range of.
(This is just one definition among many. For the full definition listing, do go to: “http://www.thefreedictionary.com/extend”)

The definition of “extent” is defined as:

- The degree to which a thing extends
(Once again, do go to “http://www.thefreedictionary.com/extent” for the full listing)

I hope that after understanding the differences between the two terms, you will be able to better apply them correctly and appropriately for subsequent lessons.
