It seldom occurs to us that the essence of life lies in maintaining the balance between pull and push. Few individuals in the world are able to master this skill even if they know of this concept as a fact. So, what is meant by the phrase “maintaining the balance between pull and push”? Here are a few examples:
- Personal relationships: When we try to establish and maintain good relationships with our loved ones, do we know when is a good time to spend some personal time with them and when is a good time for our loved ones to be left alone? If you consider this decision to be challenging, then knowing that each of our loved ones has different temperaments (and hence we need different approaches for each of them) will make the issues even more complicated.
- Personal diet: Each of us has different appetite and different food preferences. Hence, if we do not understand the details of our body’s food intake well, we will inadvertently suffer from gastric pains or indigestion. Besides exercising, being healthy also means understanding our daily food intake and how well our body’s digestive systems adapt to certain diet (of which only we know best).
- Flying a kite: Getting a kite into the air is no easy task and it can be quite challenging. However, what’s even more challenging is to maintain the kite in the air without the thread that is attached to the kite snapping. If one pulled too hard, the thread will snap. If one were to release too much of the thread, the kite may spin around a particular architecture structure, thus trapping its movement.
Therefore, from the abovementioned examples, we can see the importance of maintaining the balance between push and pull. But more importantly is the practice that we need to put in to acquire that balance.
