My laptop went down a few days ago. I can’t even access Microsoft window. And it happened right in the midst of my grading routine. I spent the entire morning resolving the issue and it didn’t work. I headed down to school in the afternoon to the IT Helpdesk to seek their assistance and thanks to the helpful IT personnel there, they finally got my laptop working.
Wow! It’s an insightful experience. We seldom get disrupted in the midst of our orderly life (as most of you have written in your journals) but sometimes it happens, not by choice of our own choosing but rather, by circumstances. So, what can we do then? When something urgent crops up and we have to attend to it? I think this is where priority comes in. We need to prioritise the matters that we are attending to and attend to the urgent ones first. Next, we will need to structure the ways that we go about resolving the issue. It’s quite challenging and we all make mistakes sometime. But I figure that we will learn as we go along.
I feel that I did quite well for that day but not that well. I could have gone to IT Helpdesk immediately but I didn’t. Instead, I spent the entire morning figuring out the fault on my laptop, which is really not a wise choice. So, a lesson for all of you taking tests: do seek assistance if you encounter any problems during tests immediately rather than trying to solve any difficulties encountered yourself.
But it’s not really a bad day for me. I have learnt to manage disorderliness with orderliness!
Now, it’s time to get back to the grading……
