When we pursue our goals in life, some of us often neglect the fact that every little thing counts in life. In fact, when we are pursuing our goals, we often neglect the times that we should spend with our loved ones, the times when we should send well wishes to our friends and the times when we should relax and enjoy being with ourselves. It’s good to pursue our goals as we need a purpose in our lives. However, solely pursuing our goals places all our focus and energy on our lives and soon, we will realise that we have not spent much time with our loved ones.
Therefore, it’s good at times to simply put in quality time to spend with our loved ones. When the festive season is around the corner, we can bring our loved ones out for photo-taking. When a weekend is approaching, we can always have a sumptuous meal with our loved ones in a restaurant. There are in fact a lot of opportunities that we can spend with our loved ones, but we often prioritise our personal time over other matters. Volunteering your services to a charitable organisation is also a good endeavour. Personally, I have done some charitable work and I find it to be very satisfying.
We can always do little things for others to help them, as long as we have the mindset to help and to contribute. A simple act like assisting an old lady to cross the road or helping elderly citizens with their groceries does not take too much of our time but it is something that we can do for others. These acts might seem trivial to us but it means a lot to the old lady who has trouble crossing the road because her legs are weak. It means a lot to the old man who has trouble getting home because of the weight of his groceries.
In a world where technology is making face-to-face communication less common, it is now more important than ever to make every effort to communicate with our friends and loved ones.
We should not allow convenience to displace human warmth.
