A gift for students and lifelong learners

Continuing from what I have written on experiencing happiness in the moments, this article will touch on the benefits of focusing on our positive emotions. So, what are positive emotions? It’s basically the emotion that makes you feel good. It’s hard to define positive emotion. However, it’s easier to talk about the activities that can enable us to be in touch with it. These activities include:

  • Enjoying everything that we are doing, regardless of our preferences. In other words, move with the flow and adapt to the changes in life.
  • Fill our thoughts with happy memories. Visualise them to the best of our abilities and let them evoke a sense of happiness in you.
  • Always smile regardless of the situation you are in. There’s been research stating that our physiological state affects our mental state. I believe the reverse also holds true. So, if you are feeling down, try smiling for the day and see the difference.
  • Do not bear grudge and always try to forgive. Always begin every new day with a smile and forget about the bad experiences of yesterday.
  • Pursue your interest(s) whenever possible. If you love writing, write. If you love photography, go ahead and take some photos. Do things that you enjoy doing during your leisure time.

Remember, life’s  a roller coaster ride with its ups and downs. While we are up, enjoy the moments. And when we are down, always keep our spirits high and soon, we will be doing great again.
